New York, NY—SKYE GALLERY ASPEN, an emerging art gallery now based in New York City, is pleased to announce its participation with Zona Maco in Mexico City from February 5-9, 2025, Booth Number EJ35. This will be the gallery's inaugural participation in the fair, presenting a selection of works by Dan Lam, Esther Ruiz, and Derrick Velasquez. The gallery will be hosting a VIP Preview on February 5th from 4pm-9pm.

Dan Lam is a contemporary artist celebrated for her vibrant, otherworldly sculptures that merge abstraction, surrealism, and biomorphic forms. Her pieces captivate with a striking understanding of playfulness and unease, delving into themes like beauty, transformation, and the tactile tension between what allures and repulses us. Lam's works have been exhibited nationally and internationally, such as at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, Massachusetts; Southwest School of Art Newton Abbot, United Kingdom; Nasher Sculpture Center Dallas, Texas; and McNay Art Museum San Antonio, Texas.

Esther Ruiz is a sculptural artist who explores abstraction, geometry, and the interplay between space, light, and color. Her practice incorporates mirrored surfaces, bold geometric forms, and concrete textures to create sculptures that feel both futuristic and familiar. Ruiz’s ability to craft visual narratives allows each piece to function as a physical artifact of an imagined world, inviting viewers to engage with their own interpretations. Recently, she held a solo exhibition at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, CT, Paradise Gallery, Sutton, MA, and CHART, New York, NY.

Derrick Valesquez's work spans across painting, sculpture, and installation. His notable wall sculptures are composed of layered colored vinyl, meticulously arranged into conceptual forms that invite viewers to question their perceptions of space, shape, and function. By pressing the relationship between gravity and shadows, Velasquez creates works encouraging haptic engagement and appealing to our physical sensations. Each sculpture evokes the natural world—such as drooping rainbows or brushstrokes suspended in time—offering a cognitive journey that prompts reflection on the connection between art and the ecosystem. His most recent exhibitions include solo shows at The Herron School of Art and Design, Indianapolis, Indiana; The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, Denver, CO; Robischon Gallery, Denver, CO; and Pentimenti, Philadelphia, PA.
