In Tandem
february 23 - april 10, 2019
PRESS RELEASE
in tandem, a collaborative sculpture exhibition by Aleph Geddis and Spencer Hansen features brand new, original works by both artists as well as collaboration pieces never yet offered to the market.
These men create permeable spheres of influence wherever they go. Their creative and dedicated spirits inspire anyone with an inkling to create. Some might even claim it cultish. With that, Skye Gallery Aspen is honored to present their passionate works to the next round of followers, admirers, and communers.
A woodcarver by trade, Aleph Geddis is a sculptor, born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, who currently divides his time between workshops on Orcas Island, WA and Bali. Thoroughly taken by his hand carving skill, Skye Gallery is elated to present you his works for sale in Aspen, CO. Themes of Alephs work include first nations forms and lines, bestiary, sacred geometry and the works of Barbara Hepworth and Isamu Noguchi.
Spencer Hansen is an interdisciplinary artist who works primarily with natural materials, hand making detailed art that is the antithesis of our disposable culture. Endlessly experimenting with processes is how pieces come to completion. In addition to Spencer Hansen Art, which includes painting, sculpture, masks and photography, he is also the co-founder and creative director of Heathen Clothing and BLAMO toys, both conceived in rural Idaho and developed into established independent companies.
These artists bring culture to Aspen with their new and unique pieces for this sculpture show. Upon inspection, you can sight the heavy Pacific Northwest influences of Alephs work which transmutes into Spencer's pieces as well, based upon their influences of each other. Muse sees muse when they are in close quarters - soundboarding and bouncing tangible works of art and ideas between each other. In this work you can feel the hip, vibey, design that pours out of Bali, Indonesia - a new hot spot for the uber good looking and artistically inclined to play with each other.
