SKYE GALLERY is thrilled to present “Pressed Narratives,” their first immersive, online art experience. This show presents artworks by five master printmakers who employ varied techniques to explore the same medium. A celebration of both traditional methods and contemporary innovation, “Pressed Narratives” invites viewers to take a closer look at the versatility of printmaking.

Jon Greene’s specialty lies in depicting familiar surfaces using synthetic materials and thin-layer ink on paper. His work reflects personal experiences and explores how we perceive our surroundings, highlighting society's defining social, psychological, and economic barriers.

Similarly, Jeffrey Dell’s screenprints engage themes of human desire and its effects on perception, impulse, appetite, and health. Dell’s prints are characterized by their detailed, layered textures and nuanced use of color, showcasing a profound sensitivity to the printmaking process.

Juan Escudero makes meditative landscapes that explore themes related to human emotions and nature. His work primarily involves traditional techniques like etching and engraving. His prints are known for their intricate details and fine lines. This meticulous approach allows for a rich visual texture and depth.

Master printmaker Michael Krueger marries both time-honored and groundbreaking techniques such as etching, lithography, gesso, and watercolor to cultivate human connection and explore narrative, mythology, counterculture, the history of art, and personal memoirs. His work frequently showcases intricate textures and subtle tonal variations, highlighting his skill in manipulating the printmaking medium to achieve complex visual effects.

Meanwhile, Cary Hulbert is known for combining nontraditional tools such as colored pencil, gouache, and silkscreen to create fluid landscapes that depict an alternate realm, one that evokes associations with the dream realm and afterlife.

“Pressed Narratives” offers a compelling, intimate view of printmaking's breadth and depth through the work of four distinct masters who showcase a rich tapestry of the medium’s capabilities. We invite you to join us online through October 1st in celebration of Skye Gallery’s first digital exhibit. Here, you can delve into the innovative techniques and diverse perspectives of these artists and experience the versatility of printmaking from the comfort of your own space.
